I had no idea our name meant “Little Oak” in Russian! Fascinating. Do you know why?

I was saying, I did not know Dubnick meant “Little Oak” in Russian. It is fascinating. Do you know why our family had that name?

  3. I don’t know at this point. Some name were topographical, so it could describe where they lived. Al Dubnick believes they were in the lumber business, so that could also be an explanation. However, it’s also possible that the name derives from another town that they came from, and that it eventually morphed into “Dubnick,” in which case, the meaning would be incidental.
